Karin TerBlanche
“You are the art. Wear it!”
Karin was born in Namibia but moved to S.A. at a young age. She studied nursing, specialising in Midwifery and Neonatal ICU care and opened a practice. This led to marriage and the never-ending task of raising three boys. She yearned to be creative and started painting. Soon after, she was awarded the Anton Smit prize for the most upcoming South African artist by the Alette Wessels Kunskamer in Pretoria which specializes in investment art. She participated in many solo and group exhibitions and her paintings now feature in local and international collections.
As an art teacher, hundreds of children and adults have passed through her studio and still do. As an all-around creative, Karin has specialised in many disciplines like painting, illustration, live on-stage performances with the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, wood and metal sculptures, sand painting, mosaics, pastels, charcoal, creative writing, drawing, directing and presently sculpting with clay. At present, she prints images of her original paintings onto silky chiffon and creates colourful, fashionable scarves, blouses, skirts, and overcoats which are sold locally and internationally.
The golden thread that runs through all her creative endeavours and her true passion in life is serving the King and expanding His Kingdom through creativity.
Karin was called to manage the Holy Spirit School at a local church. This experience led to Karin hosting the first Prophetic Art Conference in South Africa with fellow artists Ilse Kleyn and Jenny Krog. Out of this conference, many Prophetic Art Schools were born.
Karin often speaks about the creativity of the Father through us and how He wants to teach us His ways. She has spoken at events in Marseilles, France, Botswana, Thailand and all over South Africa.
Karin is passionate about all things spiritual. The building blocks of everything she is and everything she does is always seeking an intimate and deeper relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
